Sausage Macaroni Bake

Within the past year, I made a new mama friend and fell in love with her from Day 1!  She’s that kind of friend that from the minute you meet her, you know she’s someone that will be in your life forever.  RECENTLY, she passed along a dinner recipe that I tweaked just a bit…This is my version of:
SAUSAGE MACARONI BAKE
Ingredients
1/2 lb. uncooked Whole Wheat Organic Macaroni
1 lb Italian Turkey Sausage
1 large Green Pepper, chopped
1 small Onion, diced
Italian Seasoning
Oregano
Basil
Garlic Powder
S&P
16 oz. tomato sauce
1 cup water
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
Directions
  1. Cook macaroni. Drain, set aside
  2. Preheat Oven 350
  3. In large skillet, cook sausage until no longer pink dicing it small while cooking
  4. Set aside
  5. Add pepper, onion, spices to pan and cook for a few minutes
  6. Stir in tomato sauce and water.
  7. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, ADD Sausage back to pan & simmer 5 min
  8. Stir in macaroni and 1/4 c Parmesan cheese
  9. Transfer to a 9×13 baking dish, sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup cheese
  10. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes

    Aw, so glad you guys liked it! Funny I looked at your “tweaks” and wrote them down in my book.;) I never used the whole wheat pasta (we use that omega 3 Barilla–my family never likes the whole wheat! What brand do you use?) I made your Tilapia the other night and it was yummy! ;)
