Our Weekend from my iPhone

Did you have a good weekend?

We participated in our neighborhood garage sale and I have to say, Saturday was quite the day full of funny characters, hilarious outfits and crazy conversations.  People sure do come out of the woodwork for a good garage sale and I’m not sure I can handle another anytime soon.  I think it would’ve been fine had I not had my 2 little boys running around during the madness, but with people negotiating on a $1 item, dozens flocking in at one time asking to buy the bike Rocco was riding, others talking to the boys while I was in the garage helping 5 people… it all just stressed me out.  Its funny because we met a ton of normal & friendly people who were just out and about for a good deal on a Saturday but we definitely met some crazies too.  They brought their quarter rolls and wanted to make deals on the quarter items.  “Will you take $0.15?”  SERIOUSLY?  I would just laugh.  I’ve only held 2 garage sales in my life so you could say I don’t even have the etiquette down.  One lady came into our garage and offered $0.25 on anything she could get her hands on.  It could have been marked $0.50, $1.00, $5.00 or $25.00, she offered $0.25 ~ I almost told her to leave but she beat me to it and walked away complaining about how everything was priced too high.  The big news is that we sold Brian’s motorcycle and after that, I had about enough of the heat, the garage, the junk… it was time.  We closed up shop, took the cash from the day & went on a date!  Nana & papa stayed with our 2 little monkeys.

1st stop? Apps & Drinks at ‘Ciao’ ~ If you live in Pittsburgh, have you been there?  Its an authentic and fresh Italian Cafe!  They have great bread with homemade roasted red pepper dipping sauce; the owner is 100% Italian and its just a fun little place to eat!  And the owner definitely makes it a fun experience too… Shhhsh’ing me while I whispered to Brian during the ‘Specials’!  haha  We were there with friends and ordered a handful of things for us all to munch on: a pizza, spinach dip, greens & beans and an eggplant appetizer.  The pizza was good but nowhere near as good as aPizza Badamo; I’m biased.  It was topped with great Parma sausage though and I appreciated that as a fellow Italian.  The flavor in the sauce was a little plain for us but the other apps, like the spinach dip and eggplant are worth going back for!  YUM!  The greens and beans were classic greens and beans- very good and very garlicy.  It’s funny because Brian and I usually never get Italian food when we go on a date- We eat it so often and then when we have it from a restaurant, we tend to compare it to what we’ve been used to for years and years.  This was a good Italian Cafe and I’d definitely go back to try more!

After ‘Ciao’, we went to see Dave Matthews in concert.  He was amazing… my iPhone pic was not.

On Sunday, my mom and I shopped at Ross Park Mall, the best Pittsburgh mall in my opinion and I loved walking through all the stores with her.  We had a great time!  I haven’t been there in a while because its definitely a little jaunt but it was well worth the trip.  I picked out blush at the MAC counter, found a few new pair of shoes at Nordstrom and ordered a new handbag from Kate Spade that was gifted to me by a handful of awesome people for my bday!  Here’s a little peak at the inside!  I’m so excited for it to arrive!

Later that evening, Brian and I took an unhealthy dinner to the lake.  We brought Beau with us this time and the boys were excited to sit in the backseat of the car with him.  It was a beautiful evening!  Just as I got everyone’s southern food plated, I sat at the picnic table and felt a warm, wet feeling on my ankle and foot… I looked down and Beau was peeing on me.  Honest to God, no words.  I looked at Brian with my mouth open and sweet man… he didn’t say much.  He just stood from the table, found napkins, got under the picnic table and cleaned my PiggyToes.  God bless him…. and this dog of ours.  I just have to shake my head.  After that happened, I didn’t even have an appetite with pee on my foot but the boys loved their fried chicken and macaroni and cheese!

It was a lovely little weekend… fun and busy; nothing crazy happened but there was never a dull moment ~ Hope yours was great too!

I laughed at the last part. I would be still and think OH MY GOSH! Although, Beau must LOVE YOU, he’s marking you as his. ;) haha

Sounds like an interesting weekend. There are some strange characters during garage sales for sure! My parents and my family got together for one once, and my dad did all the front work, while my mom and I stayed inside with the kids. MUCH better option, I don’t think I could do all the people! :) (My husband was at work.)

I’ve been thinking about a garage sale for a while, but just can’t get myself to get into organizing things to sell. Oh well, someday maybe, until then I’ll do e-bay selling and craigslist sometimes. ;)

So glad you had a wonderful weekend. :)
