What I Wore… 23 weeks Pregnant

This week marked the first time I received a ‘negative’ comment regarding my prego appearance.  While out trick-or-treating, I was greeted by a neighbor who said, “So its not just extra clothes you’ve been wearing.  You are pregnant!”  Followed by, “WOW!  You were never this huge with your other 2!  It has to be a girl!”

I mean, let’s face it (or I’ll face it)… I know the number on the scale is quite high (for me) at this point in my pregnancy but can’t everyone just stick to the rule: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” ?  ESPECIALLY during pregnancy?  Most women, no matter what their size during pregnancy, feel huge so there’s really no need to point out the hugeness, right?  I handled myself well and gave her a great big smile and said,

As far as my ‘maternity fashion’ goes, I’ve really been enjoying scarves this fall and have found so many great ones at TJMaxx and Target!  In my opinion, it adds so much to a simple outfit and it keeps me nice and warm on all the chilly days we’ve been having!  And since my body temperature runs hot, you’re most likely to see me out and about without a coat (Try explaining that to your kids! “You need to wear a coat; mommy doesn’t.“)

In Baby News: Little One is doing great!  Kicking and punching and twisting; I love all of the movement!  My ‘What to Expect’ book reads: “This week marks the beginning of some serious weight gain as your baby’s weight in the next 4 weeks alone will double.” GROW BABY GROW!

I officially have lost site of my ‘belt area’ when I look down and my belly is big enough to catch food too ; )  Flat Riding Boots have been my go-to shoe since the weather has gotten colder here in Pittsburgh and I’m enjoying necklaces more than any other jewelry right now!

I hear “You were never this huge with your other 2!” all the time! lol I have to just let it go. I feel fat, but I KNOW I am pregnant, you know?

Can’t wait to find out what you are having. 😉 I am still amazed ours is a girl. Something I am totally not used to. I still look at boys stuff all the time!

You know I think we are only a couple weeks apart. I am almost 22 weeks, on Friday. Kinda neat.!! Although I am ALWAYS late giving birth. I always go 2 weeks past my due date. 😉

I will voice my opinion, I think you need to just embrace your belly and show it off! You are pregnant, your belly will grow, thats just a fact.
I would hate to see what those people thought of me when I was pregnant, if they think you are big, I must have been HUGE!
Be proud of your baby bump girl! Be proud!
You wear pregancy well, some women don’t. Having a changing body is hard, but rock it!

I think you look great.. Who cares what everyone else says.. As long as that sweet child is growing, and developing into a little miracle, thats all that matters! Weight can be lost.. Just be proud to show off that belly.. There is life inside!

  6. Hi, this is my first time on your blog — found it randomly through Facebook — but I have got to chime in here and say that you are one fabulous, cute and stylish pregnant girl! Don’t let the negative comments get too far under your skin. <3
