Italian Ground Turkey Pinwheel

I feel like I’ve been posting a lot of recipes lately… ummmm…


I’m pregnant.

Very pregnant.

And hungry.

Very hungry.

So anyway, this recipe was awesome and so easy to make that I just had to share it with you!  Don’t let the pinwheel rolling intimidate you; just make sure you have parchment paper!  My hubby over-complimented this dish and went back for seconds and our 2 little boys didn’t have a bite left on their plates!  This is a great recipe and I can see myself making this instead of meatloaf in the future!

I know your family will enjoy this Ground Turkey Pinwheel just as much as we did!


1 1/4 pounds Ground Turkey (For this recipe, I recommend that you DON’T use lean turkeyI purchased Kosher Ground Turkey from Trader Joes and it was delicious!)
3/4 cup Italian style bread crumbs
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach (thawed and drained)
3/4 cup Sargento shredded Italian cheese blend
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. salt
5 Tbsp. ketchup
1/4 cup shredded Italian cheese blend
1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning (or to taste)


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix together the ground turkey, bread crumbs, egg, 1 tsp of salt, and black pepper in a bowl.

Pat the mixture out onto the baking sheet in a rectangle about 10×14 inches.

In a bowl, place the spinach, 3/4 cup of Italian cheese, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

Lightly combine, and spread the spinach mixture over the meat, leaving a 3/4-inch margin.

Pick up one edge of the parchment paper, and roll the edge over, starting with the short end. Continue to roll, pulling back the parchment paper as you go, until the meat is a firm roll.

Press seam down, and lay the roll seam-side down into the rack.

Bake until the roll is cooked through and the juices run clear, about 45-50 minutes.

Pull the pan from the oven and spread roll with ketchup, then sprinkle with 1/4 cup of Italian cheese blend and 1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning.

Return to oven, and bake until the cheese has melted, about 5-10 more minutes.

I served this over creamy mashed potatoes and the entire loaf was gone in one sitting!

    This sounds SO good! you know what might work with it? try marinara sauce instead of ketchup

      Thanks Kelsey and YES! Marinara Sauce would be AWESOME with it! That was my first thought too but I wanted to try it the ‘original’ way first and the ketchup turned out great! I’ll try marinara next time :)

    This was DELICIOUS! I used pizza sauce instead of ketchup and my husband, a self-proclaimed meatloaf “hater”, LOVED this! Next time I will spread a layer of the pizza sauce inside as well.

      Hi Caley! You’re Welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed this 😉 I will definitely use sauce next time but have to admit, I liked the ketchup as it was a nice change of pace for us! The Italian in me uses sauce for EVERYTHING! haha
