You may remember me talking about my desire for our boys to share a bedroom and I couldn’t think of a better time to try it out than now! We are currently living in our temp home until we find and purchase our ‘dream home’ and we have a large 3rd floor with an attached bath and large walk in closet… Perfect for a shared space!
I’ve pulled many random pieces of furniture together from our old home to create this space and the boys love it! If we do decide to keep them together in our next home, a lot will change about their shared space (I need my sunroom chairs back! haha) For now, this is a great floor for them to play and sleep in and I’m thankful to have the space for all of their belongings!
Our little guys love to show off their shared space so when I told them I was going to take pictures to show you, they were giddy! Let’s go upstairs…
Welcome to the boys floor!
Let us take you around…
At the top of the steps, we put a large dresser right next to their closet and they share both. There is plenty of space for all of their clothes and shoes!
The left side of the room is our reading wall!
Each of the boys have a soft PBKids ‘Anywhere Chair’ and their own bookcase to hold all of their favorite books!
On the right wall, there’s 2 tall bookcases filled with games and puzzles and 4 colored bins of toys (mostly cars & trucks)… I love how colorful and fun this wall is, yet still organized!
(There’s my Mario on his Baby Einstein mat!)
The train table and diner take center stage in this shared space because those are the 2 ‘big’ things that get played with a LOT in our house!
Our boys do so much on their train table; play with cars, play-dough, build puzzles… and the diner is a hit with their play-mates!
2 monkeys talked us into buying them bunk beds! And a tent to go over the top bunk too. We made a trip to Ikea Pittsburgh the day we moved in and they were happy campers! All of their furniture from their ‘old rooms’ is in storage and honestly, they haven’t asked once about where the other beds are.
I’m thankful that we purchased reasonably priced bunk-beds because I’m still unsure if we should keep them in our next home. I always envisioned their shared space with 3 twin beds in it, but time will tell.
For now, they are looooving their bunk-beds (and I love having the baby monitor up there so that I can watch them)!
The boys are taking turns on the top bunk. I told them when we bought the beds that I strip the beds to clean sheets once a week and that is when they switch! So far, so good!
We’re loving this shared space and I highly encourage putting your kids together in the same room! They are definitely making good memories on the 3rd floor!
Can you find my monkeys? ; )
PS. This. Happens. Every. Day.
The joys of shared rooms during nap/bed-time… making memories… making memories… making memories… making memories ; )
